i couldnt understand from the text written with the illustration, so this is the most up to date illustration of smilodon populator? because the back here seems much diefferent then it is in your previous drawings and books
Hello Leonel, this is not a new illustration of Smilodon populator, it is in fact the same reconstruction that appears in page 176 of “Sabertooth”. The apparent shape of the back changes in living animals depending on posture and locomotion, and that is especially the case with such flexible mammals as felids are. But apart from such variations, all my reconstructions of S. populator are based on the existing fossils and are hopefully consistent in terms of body proportions.
